I was pretty pleased with the character I made, so I messed around with the sequencer a little:
Now you too can make your idle animations super annoying!

Gif, PNG, Jpeg Assignment

As you can see, there is no major difference between the .jpeg and the .png.  Some of the colors appear a little more crisp on the .png than the jpeg because of image compression. An example of this is the color of the boys face between the jpeg and the png.  The png has a lighter tone on the face than the jpeg does.  The major difference between the two is the addition of alpha channels to allow for better transparency.  This is not apparent in the photo.  However, the .gif format looks a little ruddy because, while it too allows for transparency, it only allows the use of 256 colors; .png and .jpeg allow for a greater number of colors (I think somewhere in the millions).

MIDTERM #3

These are images that have been changed from their original format.  The original format was .tif.  I opened the image in GIMP and used the export tool (SHIFT+CTRL+E) to export them as different filetypes: .jpeg, .png, and .gif.  It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at this link.

9-19 ROLL CALL #2

Roll call #2

MIDTERM #2

This is an image of a cat named Samus (hopefully surname: Aran).  I added a caption to the bottom by highlighting an area and filling in the section with white.  I then added my text box to the box, and added my caption there.   It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College.  The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.  For details, visit the immersive BC portal at this link.

MIDTERM #1

This is a picture that originally had redeye issues.  Using GIMP, I selected a color on the iris to paint over the redeye using the paintbrush tool.  It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College.  The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.  For details, visit the immersive BC portal at this link.

Assignment 2-1: My GIMP Photo

This is a highly distorted version of myself in Maine about a year ago.  I usually go on vacation there for a week every year with my parents, it's always been fantastic.

Did a half-hearted magic wand select, put a gradient over my body (mostly) and added a few filter effects to one layer and lowered opacity.

Class 1, Assignment 5

Gimp is definitely running on my computer

Hello, My Name is Andrew Loof (to avoid confusion)

To begin, I am 24, currently live in Burlington MA and work at a public library while going to school.  I'm working on my undergrad to get my MLS (Masters of Library Science).  I'm an avid player of video games as well as movie watcher etc.  If it's media, chances are I'm relatively engrossed in it.  Have owned a whole array of consoles, ranging from the Sega Genesis to a pre-ordered Playstation 4.  I plan on building my own arcade cabinet one of these days for fun.  I don't know what else to say for now!
